so we made huge progress in a year,

the computer room last january

and now!

thanks to the many helpers and the 3 airlines company and Xentrax who made it possible. Also a big hug to the Canadian who came already twice to the rescue and bought food when Dominica was extremely concerned about feeding the 49 kids and helped with 2 windows, a ramp etc. Bless you. He wanted to see if our story on the web was real!

11/20/04: Though I am physically going to be in Santo Domingo next week for Thanksgiving to deliver the 18 computers, 3 printers etc and will be able to take lots of photos of the computer room and the children and i am taking 31 pairs of shoes, but very few tennis shoes, I am going back at the end of the year. Can you see if you can share something that i will bring, --bathing suits are always in need-- when we take our 50+ children for 1 day at the beach, and the others who get to spend time with me.

"Hello Marie....Here is a list of the items that are very significant to everyone  here. We are all praying for your soon visit. Please, send me the names of the good people that have been assisting our program. I would like to send them an e-mail of gratitude for the year that is leaving 2004.

here is our current list of what we need urgently for this orphanage/school  for our daily work.

1- Tennis shoes are a big headache for us. All different sizes. from size # 3 years old to size # 11 big feet (adults).
 2- Shampoo, hairbrush and combs.
3- embroidering material and strings for the girls to sow.
4- Bras for The girls.
5- Deodorants, tooth pastes, tooth brushes.
6- Plastic chairs for all the congregation service  (children and adults), between 350 and 400.
7- Vitamins for children and adults.
8- String Note Books. Still kids without notebooks in the classrooms.
9- Erasers for the teachers.
10-Some used phones.
11- Two or three more radios for the classrooms.
12- And some special gifts for Christmas for the most dedicated people (teachers and teens).
13. And of course $$$ to feed our 45 children since the Dallas church stopped its monthly support after building the new facility across our school (with kitchen, dining room, showers etc).
14. A generator so we can operate the computer room when electricity is not coming (VERY OFTEN nowadays)

May the holy spirit of God guide you in everything you do.
Blessings and hugs to you all,

*********************************

11/12/04 We need help and advice to bring power to the computer room. We have 19 functioning computers and I will bring 18 more BUT THERE IS not enough ELECTRICITY to run them! So i am searching for installing solar power (but it comes to around $1,000 per computer!) or buy a generator so we can operate the computer room!!!  Am going to bring to Dominica 18 more computers at Thanksgiving and can check locally. Any advice on that will be greatly appreciated.

9/29 Here is a thank you from Dominica as the children are able to have computer class for the first time in their lives.
"Hi Marie... Everyone here is talking about your next shipment of printers and computers. AT MEAL TIME A LOT OF MEDITATION PRAYERS ARE CONNECTING AROUND THE DIVINE POWER OF HEAVEN, THE CHILDREN, THE ADOLESCENTS AND STAFF. THEY ARE SO HAPPY TO HAVE THE COMPUTERS FOR FIRST TIME IN THEIR LIVES...  NOW WE JUST PRAY THAT THIS NEW SHIPMENT CAN ARRIVE TO ALL OF US IN ORDER TO FEED THE KNOWLEDGE OF SO MANY NEEDY ORPHANS and battered children.
KEEP UP THE WONDERFUL HARD WORK THAT YOU CARRY FOR THIS COMMUNITY AND
ESPECIALLY TO OUR CHILDREN. ONE DAY YOU WILL HAVE YOUR RE-PAY FROM THE HEAVEN.
BLESSINGS, DOMINICA

and photos of the 10 boxes ready in my house and waiting for magic to be shipped free of charge to Santo Domingo! We need prayers and/or donations to make it happen.  Thanks Marie

Job well done, Ray who fixed 15 computers and 3 laser jet printers  for the children

The room below computers is finished. Dominica has her new office and storage and even a small space for cafeteria.

8/13: We got contributions to start building Dominica's office downstairs, thus freeing room upstairs for 10 more computers. We are actively working here to fix and prepare the 13 Pentium III computers and the 5 laser jet printers we received from Marriott International! We found free shipping from New York to Santo Domingo mid September and have to find a nice customs agent to let our shipment go through "with a smile"! Dominica had electricity at the school this morning and has sent me 6 pictures.   August 16th is when the new president of D.R. gets sworn in. Let's hope that this total lack of electricity for the poor for 3 months belongs to history for good. Who in 2004 can live without refrigerator, gas, fan, water, washing machine etc and still take care of 30 children. Dominica survived but it was unreal. If she only had $2,000 to buy a generator, it would have been a normal life like the tourists know in the Dominican Republic. Oh well, she made it, bless you and the children for coping with this difficult time.

Dominica is still very concerned about being able to feed and take care of the 34 children she has now. the $1,100 went down to $75! Would you help and sponsor a child, anywhere from $35 to $100 per month. It will make a HUGE difference for those children. Thanks

7/25/04 - Dominica is quite relieved as 10 teachers out of 12 have received their extra pay --thanks to generous contributors here-- and all of her classes are filled up except two. She was able to raise  the tuition 200 pesos (only a 15% increase while inflation has been rampant for a year plus). Hopefully this will help her meet her needs this school year. Each kid in those classes (300 +) will get a 30' a week of computer class! And the kids' meditation (and ours here in Va) made miracles happen. A Canadian took a week end vacation in Santo  Domingo and came to check if all the stories he read on our website were true. He was so impressed that he went with Patrizia to buy 20,000 pesos of food ($465!) 5 bags of rice etc... so Dominica can offer again 3 meals a day to the children who were getting hungry and very nervous! Ouf!

And this wonderful soul liked the computer room but was concerned with the stairs without railing and gave $200 to put one.  Also my nephew Renaud contributed $300 so we can start Dominica's office below the room and free up that space to put an additional 10 computers! And keep some storage room for equipment.

Now, good news also on how the oils are helping the community. Here are some testimonials: Remember, in the last shipment, I sent 1.5 liter of essential oils for Virus out, headache, Childhood Trauma, Flu, immune up etc. and many people come knock at the door for help.

Lizette, 41, who was raised with Dominica, has been retarded all of her life. She could not go to the bathroom or wash by herself, or read etc... So Dominica immediately start applying a few drops of Childhood Trauma under her feet, back, wrists etc... Within a week, she was able to become independent again, started to read. And now a month later, she is HELPING the children get dressed etc... Wow! Bravo Mikael. So she used some on the other 5 retarded children she has who were always in a fight etc.  No more, they now join the group and are quiet.

HEADACHE is also a big help. Maria Celeste Pacheko has been suffering from TERRIBLE migraines for years. She applied a few drops on her head where she hurt and within 10 minutes, the pain was gone for the first time in years. She went back to see her doctor for a test and there is nothing left inside. No more pain. Amazing. This is great as there are a lot of children also suffering from headaches.

VIRUS is another favorite. Kids and adults suffer from flu, colds, cough etc. ALL THE TIME, because of drafts, mosquitoes etc... And this helps quickly. Look at  Elena, an aunt who raised Dominica, has had a hole on top of her feet, very infected as Dominica talks about smelling bad all the time. Virus out is helping a lot and Elena constantly come to the school to get that "miracle oil", as she calls it.

Dominica can go on with Flu, Sinus, Immune up, Anger out etc... Pretty soon, the kids at Dominica school are going to be my best customers!! Dominica is already asking for more. Of course! it saves her a lot of doctors bills and unnecessary suffering..

Dominica needs 10 to 15 more computers, 3 laserjet printers (it makes the inscription so much easier), some telephones, and money to buy a generator ($2,000) to function. She is renting one for 2 hours to morrow to have access to Internet and send us the pictures she took. Let's hope we get them.

7/17/04 - The computer room is DONE*.

unpacking of the inverter from Xantrax

Official opening soon, but the teenagers are already receiving class and they love it. We have 19 computers running and 2 in the office. Next step is plan and organize the Internet Cafe in order to pay for a full time technician. And 2 more batteries @ $90 each. It is a must as electricity supply is worse than ever: no electricity for 3 to 5 days, so no shower, no fan, no wash etc, and of course, no computer, and no photos of the classroom! The new president of the D.R. takes office mid august and hopefully, the electricity situation will improve. People get up at 3 am to do the wash while electricity lasts!

We are also visualizing to move Dominica small office next to the computer room to downstairs so we can put more computers in the classroom. To do so, Dominica needs $1,000 to $1,200 to close up and finish a room below the computer room, next to the bathrooms. It needs, walls, floor, electricity etc. Also the Dallas church reduced drastically their help to our orphans: from $1,100/month to $75. So Dominica had to stop feeding the 69 kids in need to 32 & 2 meals/day and may have to reduce to 10 or 15 children??? We need help here.

Her urgency is to find $400 to pay the extra month for the teachers so they don't switch to the new private school which just opened and offers higher salaries! Kids are doing meditation, led by David, hoping this amount will manifest!

PLEASE HELP DOMINICA! Thank YOU!

Ray moving boxes day before shipment

6/10/04 We just shipped 14 boxes of 70 lbs of equipment and clothes and shoes to Dominica and the kids. All together 1,400 lbs left for Dominica and an orphanage in Punta Cana. 30 computers, 5 printers, 1 fax, 1 inverter. We want to thank American Airlines, Marriott Corp, Xentrex Corp, Ray and Rick for fixing the Pentium III, James, Christen and Othman for bringing that

We  have Credit Card access for donations on this site, thanks to Network For Good. We are adding and translating to our brand new website. Be patient, and/or offer your help from Spanish to English! Thanks

cargo at 6:00 am etc.   make them fit is always a challenge

5 boxes in Christen's car!

James took 8 large boxes, mine 6 and Othman 5, 70 lbs each!

Some photos will follow shortly of the delivery by Dominica.

To everyone who helped with donation and their physical help, Dominica and I say: muchas gracias.

5/29 - DOMINICA and our KIDS are safe, Thank you. No death in La Urena but it rained non stop for 4 days and water went everywhere, carrying mattresses etc. And it is the beginning of rainy season, so please keep your prayers. We are preparing a new shipment to the school very soon, if you want to donate $ or things. The biggest problem is cold, virus, flu and she is running out of our oils!

DOMINICA HAS RECEIVED 22 Pentium II in April.

"Hello Marie... It's such wonderful news to hear of 10 more  Pentium lll computers coming our way soon!!! God is really listening to our prayers, we are sure of that!  Jean Dye has been an inspiration to allow a significant group of young people to be able to learn and develop their lives in this humble community and orphanage. You have been the motor for this project and our God had listened and considered our dream. God is so good, Marie...
I found out that bringing a carpenter to the computer room to build the desks is less costly than buying furniture from the store. The carpenter’s estimate for 6000 pesos ( about $133) includes desks for monitors and key boards, chairs and computers.

The inverter ($1100 x 2)  is absolutely necessary to supply stable electricity for all the computers  until the students turn them off. You never know when power will go off here and it can really hurt the hard disks. Inverters are to protect the equipments when the power goes off. Now electricity takes 12 and 24 hours to come up. We need to think of  a diesel generator around 6 kilos that may hold the orphanage Life Skill Center and the school with no problem. We are having a hard time with the sewing class because electricity here is like a lottery. We have 26 girls and women and 7 boys as well learning how to sew. They get depressed because they want to sew in their class but the electricity is a big problem. These young students are making underwear for the girls and some pieces of clothes for the little ones to wear to go to school everyday.

Today I got my Laptop back from the store. I need to install some of the important program that I got from you. I lost most of my files and I need to start again. I'll be working with the pictures that I took when the computers arrived at the orphanage.

We had an eventful day. Just picture  about 100 children and a bunch of adults helping to carry those boxes* to the upstairs office, next to the computer room. They wanted to reserve their spots in the computer classroom. My heart was beating so fast with joy when I saw the excitement and even tears from two teachers.

A big thank you Marie and Jean Dye (and all the many helpers who made this possible, like Sherry, Rick, Ray, James etc.). God will compensate what you do for the orphans, abandoned children and our group of women in crisis. We bless you and love you,  Dominica".

SO the next step is $$$ to buy the inverter and 12 monitors (actually we may exchange a few computers for monitors) and $140 for carpentry work.  so please click above or send us a check

We received donations for $800, so we need $1,200 more. THANK YOU!

Checks (or clicks) made out to City of Joy Aid are tax deductible (Id # 54-1566941). Send them to 7419 Lisle Avenue, Falls Church, VA 22043, mentioning Dominica.  Thank you.

The Computer room is built. Dominica has finished  floor and paint. Rick has transformed 22

Pentium II Windows 95 donated by Marriott Corp.  into Windows 98 SE.

Ray checked them and mouse and keyboard and then wrap them into 15 boxes with sheets, towels, clothes which Dominica and the children  really appreciated. We need some more of these + bathing suits age 5 to 14 for the boxes we are preparing with 11 Pentium III with monitors!

Then James and I carried them to BWI airport at 3:00 am!

where they were checked. Finally  they flew to the Dominican Republic thanks to donated air cargo.
We now have 21 computers and 3 printers at Dominica's school.  Kids are SO excited!  We are extremely grateful to Marriott for the donation of the computers, to Jean Dye who coordinated everything and to the wonderful people who allowed the free transport! Dominica and the children bless you all.

 2.  We now need your prayers and contributions to get  2 inverters $1100 each with 4 batteries so the computer lab can function when there is no electricity (often!). Also a Laser Printer as the ink jet is too costly to run.

You can use credit cards on our site. It is SO easy!

I just recovered my living space! Thank You to the many who made this sometimes huge task possible. And the children did their part too, by visualizing and drawing the computers there! And it worked. What seemed an impossible task did manifest thanks to all of you. BRAVO!

An inverter is much different that a power surge.  An inverter provides the back up power for when the power fails and also acts as power regulator which protects the computers.  We sell only new Xantrax's Trace inverters with two year warranties.  These are the best inverters in the world and we have the best prices in the DR.  Do not use a cheap inverter as these will damage your batteries which cost $65 each, and you need four of these.  A cheap inverter can also damage the computers.  It is important that you think about the inverter as a improvement for the school that will help keep fans running during a black out and also allows for the administration computers to run as well.  Inverters are expensive, you will need between $800 and $900 for one and you will have to spend $260 on batteries.  But the inverter should last ten to twenty years, maybe even longer.  Much longer than the computers.  Think long term, it is important you stabilize the electrical situation at the school before you install a computer lab.
