SOME MORE PHOTOS OF THE SCHOOL and NEW CENTER in  JANUARY 04

This has been 10 years since I met Dominica & Alexis. What a difference people who care makes. Dominica who is the Director of Centro de Crecimiento Y Desarrollo Integral DOMINICA, works non stop with love and care, and us here, we are sending clothes and money. Look at 3 years ago when we bought the land and started to enclose it.  And now!

315 children going to school every day. They go in singing because so many others would like to be accepted at Dominica School and did not make it because our school is already too small! And they have the best "Maestra" in the world. That morning she addressed the importance of greeting in the morning  with a sincere "good morning"!

      The New Life Skill Center opened in May 03 when the orphanage moved with a New Kitchen   and 6 Showers: It was SO necessary, thanks to the Texan church support. Kids (up to 67 depending of the $$ available) arrive at 6 am for a shower, breakfast, then go to school, play, do homework, learn music, theater, sowing etc. and pretty soon learn computer skills. They can no longer sleep as the government wants to remove that word from the island and still don't give a penny to her! So Dominica and some teachers took some kids, who had no relatives, with them and had to give 7 to the nuns because they were from the next community (I miss Hilda and Elizabeth).  For all that Dominica needs $100 a month per kid! Right now she receives enough money for about 12! Therefore she had to reduce momentarily the number of  kids on the social plan who were being fed, from about 67 to 27. I think they still go to school.

  Dominica is actually one of those new teachers who understand that our children are a new race. They cannot learn in the way that children have in the past. They won't memorize facts without meaning. They need to be introduced to Universal Laws so that everything has a meaning, a center, and interconnectedness. Ideally, children could learn music, Sacred Geometry, math, and art. They may watch DVDs in a computer room --this is why our room was a priority! The teachers are not so much instructors, or givers of information, as they would be people who could help the children move more deeply into whatever interest them.

Most of her children are joyful. This is great as Joy is a direct connection to the Divine. Too many nowadays are seeking pleasure, which, according to Rowena Pattee Kryder is "an addiction. Pleasure is eating chocolates on the sofa because nothing is left in life. It is the hedonistic search for more pleasure, a cycle of pleasure and pain.  Joy is linking to the Source. True joy is moving through the pain and linking back to Source to receive true happiness.

Dominica is working very hard to make these children self-sufficient and happy. Remember we need urgently $700 to finish the computer room and ask IBM and Dell for demos, so we can start the class. We spent $6,500. We are so close!
