LETTERS
Dominica School
Los Jardines #27 La Urena - Aut as Americas Km 19 Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic Tel. 1 (809) 335-6302 Dominica@tricom.net Sto. Domingo, January 9, 2002 Att.: All the Supporters of SS Domínica School Subject: Thanks from Dominica Dearest friends, Hope that this letter finds you in the best of health and in God´s hands. We pray that this new year will bring you peace, joy, and a good and deep connection between each one of us and the rest of the human beings. It has been wonderful to have tía Marie (Marie Allizon) with us during Christmas time. You could never imagine how happy the kids enjoyed her stay and time here. They had the chance to go to the beach and have a piñata-party, a ride on a boat, to eat ice cream, fruit plates, sodas, and some good spaghetti. The Three Kings day was a real day here. Each one of them received a gift, clothes, and a towel for each one of them for the first time. They are so proud about this. We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making all this possible. We know that if it were not for you, our kids would not have had such a special treatment. You made a real Christmas come true in this orphanage/school. Our new school building (500 yards away) is going to become a reality thanks to all of you, and specially DG, as Marie gave us $6,000 to finish the first two class rooms. I am now very excited as I can have 2 of our classes move there, hopefully by February 1st, then start 2 new classes in the afternoon, and also in the evening, as there are so many teens around with nothing to do and willing to learn. By next September (or before) we hope to have 4 more classes ready to receive students. Our school has so many needs year round, that it would be very thoughtful
and generous of you to continue your incredible support in any possible way.
We and the kids would appreciate it very much and would never forget you.
Domínica and Patrizia December 19, 2001 City of Joy Aid, Inc. 7419 Lisle Avenue, Falls Church, VA 22043, Tax 1.0. #: 54 1566941 Dear Marie, On behalf of the Panek Family consisting of my brothers and sisters, Mari Jane, George, Tony, Judy, and Jerry, I am honored to make a donation to the Dominican Orphanage in Santo Domingo and have chosen to do so in lieu of giving gifts to my brothers and sisters this year. I think they will understand when they come to learn that these children either have no parents or their parents are dying and unable to care for them. We have lost our last parent and feel a bit orphaned ourselves.
After viewing your web site and personally knowing of the incredible difference you have made in the lives of these homeless children by: raising thousands of dollars for the orphanage building and medical bills, providing food after the U.S. churches stopped providing food, flying over duffel bags of donated clothes, computers, shoes, toys, books, etc. You also seem to bring joy and fun with your visits and offer the children experiences and adventures they would never be exposed to or learn about. You make a future possible for them. Rather than seeing them on the streets stealing in order to survive, you are giving them a chance to survive and teaching them skills to last a lifetime, like teaching them to cook where they all help make the meal together. Although our family was rather poor growing up, we were rich in other ways. We didn't have many store toys, but we had the adventure of a growing up on a farm and having the freedom to do whatever we could dream of and conger up. It developed our creativity at an early age. Some of us didn't even know we were poor; my youngest brother thought our Dad was rich. It is clear that the need at the orphanage is far greater than any of our needs right now.
Since you will be leaving for the orphanage in a few days, I am contributing approximately over 1,900 tablets of Super Blue Green Algae because it is a complete food and one of the best contributions I can make to a child and their health. It supplies all essential amino acids, vitamins, and minerals in one tablet. It repairs, rebuilds, and strengthens the neurotransmitters in the brain so the brain's neurons (nerve cells) are capable of sending the right signals to the organs of the body. Disease develops when the electrical signals from the brain to the organs is weakened or disappears. Super Blue Green Algae helps restore nerve impulse signals so information will flow to the organs causing them to function with more balance and harmony. I have had people report the return of feeling to their legs and fingers after being numb for years. .t nut only contains the 8 essential amino acids that are absolutely essential for every human, but also two that are essential for children's growth-arginine and histidine. You will also receive 120 tablets of Super Sprouts. I have chosen Super Blue Green Algae because it furthers what I stand for in life, to be a healing presence in the lives of others by assisting individuals in finding natural ways to heal and stay healthy, and empowering them by teaching them how to make a difference in their life.
Besides the twins, I am also interested in Antonio and his little brother since I am considering sponsoring them on behalf of my brothers and sisters or at least sending needed items to them. Would you bring back information and pictures of the twins and Antonio and his little brother? I am sending by separate mail $300 worth of Blue Green Algae and Super Sprouts by Cell Tech for only the 24 children who stay at the orphanage even though I understand the orphanage also provides services for approximately 24 additional children who stay elsewhere. I will leave it up to the care giver to decide which children have the greatest need or have learning disabilities. The information coming back from Guatemala about children who have been on the Super Blue Green Algae has been rather impressive. Their test scores, normally at the 30-40 percentile, have risen to approximately 60-70% after being on the Super Blue Green Algae. What a contribution to a little human life.
I have also enclosed some literature on Super Blue Green Algae for the care givers at the orphanage. I wish you much success, good fortune, and blessings for what you do. "JP" Panek Enclosures: Super Blue Green Algae literature. January 15, 2002 Five weeks ago, I was wondering whether to contact all my friends about my upcoming trip to Santo Domingo and the 48 kids living and studying at Dominica’s School. I hesitated as I do not like to be approached for contributions, and I already asked for help in March. But I decided to do it since people can always decline and I am so committed to these children. Sometimes my commitment inspires my friends to want to help. I phoned Dominica to find out her latest needs, made a list and in no time, thanks to Internet, it reached 50 of my friends. Lo and behold, the contributions came in and I left with $7,500!!! Wow. I just spent two weeks at the orphanage and at the beach. Eleven
children took turns staying with me at the beach. We had such a great
time. We stayed right on the beach, which is perfect for kids. The
water was shallow, there was no wave and no coral. We talked to the
stars every night and only 3 hours of rain in 14 days! On January
4th, I invited all of the kids to the beach for a beautiful day of
fun and lots of food. Twenty Five kids were there! Thanks to your contributions, construction of our 8 classrooms school has restarted. The cement for the roof of 2 classrooms is now in place (see photos) and the windows and doors will be installed on Monday, and 2 bathrooms during the week. They still need to clear the recreation area, but we need to raise additional funds for a strong gate and to close the outside walls completely, but classes can start without those things. And I was extremely pleased to learn that Dominica can charge (and get) $25 --400 pesos-- a month for tuition, per kid. Of course, she won’t receive tuition from her orphans and the teachers’ kids, but with the additional students, Dominica can expect to keep close to $500 per class each month. So for the first time in her life (12 years at the orphanage), if no emergency expenses arise (like sick children needing medical care, car insurance, new toner etc) she could (and she will in time) get close to $2,000 a month in tuition. This can be reinvested in the construction of the other classrooms! Not bad, for a country where average monthly income is 2 to 3,000 pesos (about $125 to $190). So I am ecstatic about this new development and I wanted to share it with you who made it possible. So when you can share $10 or $20, please think of Dominica School. The foundation is extremely solid, so we could build up to three floors and have more classrooms where abandonned teenagers could learn computer, carpentry, or plumbing skills, instead of begging or worse ways of getting money. My dream is coming to fruition and I want to thank each and every one of you for your past, present or future support. Time of co-creation (with God) is here as this would not have been possible without your much appreciated help and without Dominica and her teachers hard work and dedication. Dominica and the children say “GRACIAS” from the bottom of their hearts. Their deeply felt “Thank You” is still ringing in my ears. Their letter of thanks follows below. May you be blessed and blissed this New Year. P.S.: I took tons of pictures and will soon put them on the web at www.4Dshift.com/SSSenglish.htm Marie Allizon = Tia Maria!
AN ORPHANAGE SUCCCESS STORY This year I raised, effortlessly, $7,500! This will enable us to open the first 2 classrooms and have 30 children in each in the morning, in the afternoon and ultimately at night to give computer training, but also carpentry, plumbing etc. to teenagers who have no job and very few chances to get one. I am ecstatic because I found out that Dominica can make up to $500 a month per class if she manages her budget well - there is always an emergency with a sick kid etc. She can then go to the bank and borrow to build the other 6 classrooms that she wants to move out of the super crowded house where the 24 kids live. That is quite a switch from relying totally on donations to feed the orphans, to becoming an entrepreneur. And she is quite capable having a master in psychology. So while she supports 48 children with free food, education, clothing, medical emergency and lodging to half of them, she now can visualize her own house for her 2 children and their education. Now we only need 2 more bathrooms, a strong gate, and cement for a playground. First two classes will open on February 1st. |
